Matariki celebration
This week for Maori we had a massive celebration for Maori new year or as most people say Matariki.
We had a performance from the senior and junior kapahaka group, we also got a performance from the
drum team and ukulele team and last but not least the island group.
The senior kapahaka group did four songs. The songs were He Honore, Rona and the moon, E Nga iwi e, tenei matou. Then the Junior team did one song and it was called Matariki Macerena . The drum team did a a good beat they created together and the ukulele team did Lean on me. Then the island group did a circle dance and they had to shake there hips in a circle, the boys wave there legs around like a bunch of waves.
After we finished the performances we had our lovely and thoughtful cookers Mr Ogilvie and Mrs Micheal cook two sausage sizzles per person and we all enjoyed them and then started playing around. The Matariki celebration was sponsered by our beautiful and lovely Maori teacher Whaea Odie.

Hello Nicole!
ReplyDeleteI like you blog post about the Matariki celebration you did at School. I thing that you need to work on making the photos smaller. How long did it take you to finish this blog post?
Keep up the great work! - Florence
