Swimming

This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools. As soon as we got to YMCA lagoon pools we walked over to our instructor, We normally have Cameron as our instructor but this week we had Geffery. Geffery told us to sit on the side of the pool so he could call out our names, he had a bit of confusing situations at first but then we told him.

The first thing we practiced was getting into the pool properly which was hands at the hands on the side of our hips and then turn around the hop in. After we practice getting in the pool we had to get a board of Geffery. With the board we had to kick off the platform to the end of the pool but the only thing we couldn't do was use our arms to help us kick to the end of the pool.

The second thing we did was freestyle with the board to the other side of the pool but we had to kick off the wall first. Geffery sent to at a time but on opposite directions. The third thing we had to do was freestyle with  out the board and the way we did that was we had to do to circles with our head in the water and then breath once you did to circle with your arms.

Then we played go noodle which we had to grab three noodles and two people would be holding on end of the three noodles and the other two would be holding the other side of the three noodles. After those people were holding the noodles to people had to go over the noodle, then under the noodle and then over noodle. After all of us did that we had to go under the noodle, then over the noodle and then under it again and the we all had to hold our breath and go under it while Geffery was holding it.

The last thing we did was Geffery would throw toys anywhere and our section of our part of the pool and then he would ask a question and the first person  person to raise there hand and answer the question would go find three toys from the eighteen that he had threwn.

Swimming at YMCA lagoon pools

This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools. Normally we would have Cameron as our swimming instructor but this week we had 2 new swimming instructors. When we got to our swimming instructors, they said " when you get your name called out grab a life jacket and sit on the outside of the pool with your feet in.

The first thing we learnt was how to get into the pool with a life jacket on. Victoria was our demonstrator, The 2 swimming instructors told us to put one hand over your chest, one hand holding our nose and then step over the pool and drop. The reason we put our hands over our chest is because when you drop you life jacket goes up and chokes you, and the reason you put you hand over your nose is so no water can get into it.

The second thing we had to do was grab onto one another so that when your at the beach and there is a lot of you's it would be easier for all of yous to rick together. When all of us were holding onto each other the first swimming instructor pulled us half way around the pool and back.

The third thing we did was huddle up in a group so that when its cold and it is night you can get warm by huddling. The way we did this is we huddled up in a group and when miss counted to three we would have to kick back and then swim back in.

The fourth thing we did was we had to take of our life jackets and jump in the pool so we could learn how to put our life jacket on in the water. the way we did this was we had to lie on the life jacket and put our arms in then clip or zip it together. Then we jumped out of the pool and went back to school.

Swimming

This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools to learn about water safety. In our lesson we learnt about currents, tides, rips and beach flags. James was telling us about how to save people in the events of a current, tide or rip. He said you have to bring something to float on for the other person and don't get to close to them because if you don't bring something that floats they will get to close to you and jump on you not realizing that you are drowning.

After we finished talking about currents, tides and rips, We all went to our swimming instructor, mine was Cameron. We learnt how to do sculling with our feet and hands, But we only used our feet to go forward not backwards. In sculling we had to move our hands back forward so we can float, We also had to keep our stomach up so we could float even more because then your hands will be doing all the works, When we were doing sculling we always use to look at our feet bet Cameron said we cant because then your stomach will go down and it would make it harder to float. At the end we all could do whatever style we wanted from one platform to another, I did freestyle.
