Kiwi sport | Swimming

This week for kiwi sport we went to the YMCA lagoon pools to learn how to swim. We normally have Cameron as our swimming instructor but he was sick so we had Helen for our swimming instructor. When we sat down in the pool Helen told us to hop in the pool safely and get a swimming board. After we got a swimming board we got told what to do first with the board. Then we talked about the moves that we had to think of well we were gone and it was like a sequence.

The first thing we did was follow Helen's sequence which was a mushroom, then we had turn our body into a T, then we had to do 4 arm strokes, then we had to rotate onto our backs and do sculling to the end of the other platform. After we did that we had to create our own sequence, My sequence was sculling on my back which turned to  arm stroke which turned into a mushroom to a Tee and then free style to the end of the platform.

After that we had to put our boards away and listen to Helen, Helen said we had to swim to the end of the pool with whatever swimming style that we learnt this term and look at the clock with out touching the ground and treat the water for half a second which is thirty (30) seconds and then sim back to the other platform how ever we wanted. First was Me, then it was Victoria, then it was Matthew and then it was Giovanni. When we finished our things we high five Helen then got out of the pool safely then (Got change) went back to school.

Kiwi Sport

This week for kiwi sport we went to the YMCA lagoon pools to learn swimming. We normally have Cameron as our swimming instructor but he was sick so we got Helen for our swimming instructor. When we got to Helen she called out the roll and then talk to us about what we have been learning through the past weeks that we have been going swimming. We talked about things we need when going on boats, thing we need to do when stuck in a rip and things we need to do when going to a beach or river. We also talked about hyperthermia and hypothermia and what you need to do when someone has it or you have it.

After we finished talking, We practice getting into the pool safely and out of the pool safely and the way you did this was both your hands on the side of your hips then turn around and slowly slip in the water. The second thing we did was a rocket ship turning into arm stoke and the way we did this was put or hands in the air with them connecting then kick off the platform or wall, then we had to swing our arms in a circle and then put our head on one of the arms that were not circling to breath. The third thing we did was free style which is exactly like arm strokes but you have to do three arm strokes not one.

The nest thing we did was sculling in sculling you have to put your thumbs up and then push against the water we had to do feet first because we were acting like we were in a river. The next thing we did was we had to choose 4 moves from the moves that we learnt this term and when chose them you would have to go do your moves till the platform on the other side. The next thing we did was Helen would pick 4 things and we would have to do it like the one before but she chose. When we finished our things we high five Helen then got out of the pool safely then (Got change) went back to school.

Swimming at YMCA lagoon pools

This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools. Normally we would have Cameron as our swimming instructor but this week we had 2 new swimming instructors. When we got to our swimming instructors, they said " when you get your name called out grab a life jacket and sit on the outside of the pool with your feet in.

The first thing we learnt was how to get into the pool with a life jacket on. Victoria was our demonstrator, The 2 swimming instructors told us to put one hand over your chest, one hand holding our nose and then step over the pool and drop. The reason we put our hands over our chest is because when you drop you life jacket goes up and chokes you, and the reason you put you hand over your nose is so no water can get into it.

The second thing we had to do was grab onto one another so that when your at the beach and there is a lot of you's it would be easier for all of yous to rick together. When all of us were holding onto each other the first swimming instructor pulled us half way around the pool and back.

The third thing we did was huddle up in a group so that when its cold and it is night you can get warm by huddling. The way we did this is we huddled up in a group and when miss counted to three we would have to kick back and then swim back in.

The fourth thing we did was we had to take of our life jackets and jump in the pool so we could learn how to put our life jacket on in the water. the way we did this was we had to lie on the life jacket and put our arms in then clip or zip it together. Then we jumped out of the pool and went back to school.

Kiwi sport with Room 5

This week for kiwi sport i didn't go so I went to room five with Charlize, Florence, Spelman, Farzana, Leon, Alayah, Oscar and Andrew. Mrs persarde said we could play handball out side as long as she could see us,  Normally we would have to read books but today Mrs said we could play. I was king for the starter round because I was there first. We played around and it was free for all, Normally girls and boy would secretly team up but we didn't today because there was only a little bit of girls and a lot more boys. Charlize and Alayah kept getting me and florence out. Spelman and Leon were kicking the rugby ball around. When Alayah got out she got angry and bounce the up that it landed on the roof, So we just played with Florence's ball. Mr Wong came back with group A LS1 group. So we told mrs persarde and she said ok go back to your classes now.

YMCA lagoon pools

This week for kiwi sport we went to the YMCA lagoon pools. We learnt about hypothermia and hyperthermia. I learnt that hypothermia is when your body temperature is bellow standard and your lips start going pale, your legs start wobbling, you start talking funny and your teeth start chattering. I also learnt that hyperthermia is when your body temperature is going above standard. If you ever catch someone with hypothermia put them in the shower the water has to go slowly to hot because your body doesn't react well when the water changes from cold to hot or hot to cold. Also if you ever discover anyone with hyperthemia send them to the hospital as quickly as you can because they can did. After we finished talking about hypothermia and hyperthermia we went straight into our lessons, My teacher this week was Cameron. We learnt how to use our thumbs so our heads don't go underwater. We learnt how to dolphin dive so when you go to a beach that has lots of tall rocks around you can dolphin dive through or off those. We learnt how to   use our feet first when ever we are at a river because you rather you feet bones broken then your head bones broken. At the end of the lesson we go to do what ever style we wanted so i did free style.

Swimming

LI: Learning how to swim.
LI: Learning Water safety.

This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools to practice our swimming. We learnt how to get into the pool safely, free style, breath stroke, star fish and back stroke.

My coaches name was Cameron, He would show us how to do a swimming task and then we would copy him. The guy I started with was James, He told us to do a breath stroke. After we all did a breath stroke James sent all the people he thought was good to level three.

When we got to Cameron, Cameron told all of us to stand on a plat form that felt like a trampoline. He would demon strait the swimming task and then he would tell us to do the exact same thing but when we slow down we have to use our legs to kick or our arms to glide.

The first swimming task we did was getting into the pool safely, In this swimming task we had to put our to hands on the side of the pool and jump in. The second swimming task we did was star fish, In this swimming task we had to bend our knees and kick back, when we got half way Cameron would push our feet to go further. The third thing we did was back stroke, In this swimming task we had to kick off the black plat form to get a good glide. The fourth thing we did was breath stroke, In this swimming task we had to do wind meals with our arms. The last thing we did was free style, In this swimming task we had to do wind meals and do how many breaths we wanted. After we learnt these he told us to go get changed, Mr Ogilvie was teasing the girls because we came last. We hoped strait on the bus and came back to school.

Rippa rugby

This week for kiwi sport Hamish (Our coach) taught us how to play rip-pa rugby. When we were playing rip-pa rugby Hamish was explaining how to defend yourself when you are being attacked. He explained how to turn around when someone is trying to rip off your tag and how to step and try and tricked them from running one way to another. We started off with rip-pa rush and then played a game of rippa rugby. We ended the game with a game of rip-pa rush but there were four teams and 2 teams would sit out and two teams would be on.

Kiwi sport | Rip pa-Rush | Rip the tags off

This week for kiwi sport Hamish came over to help us with our kiwi sport.
We had to do a warm up game called Rip pa-Rush it was really fun because it is just l
like ball-rush but instead of tagging you have to rip their tags off. .
Then we to get into three teams group 1, group 2 and group 3, I was in group 2. For this game we had to score a try across the court without getting your tag ripped off. One team would sit out and two teams will stay in. Hamish said we were the best team because we were spreading out and sharing the ball while other people were crowding around the and not spreading out. The next game we played is we had to line up in our lines and we had to pass the ball around but you could only pass backwards.
Then we tried playing the rip the tag off game again and everyone did pretty good.

Kiwi sport

This week for kiwi sport we played games that all included rip pa-rugby.
Our first game we played was rip tags off everyone's belt and put the tags on your belt.
The second game we played was a bit like octopus but instead of tagging
them you had to rip their tags off and if you rip their tags off their in with you.
Our third game we played, We had to go in the middle of the court
and one team would be orange and one teams would be yellow and
if hamish called out yellow well then the people on the yellow side would run
to the yellow cones but if their tag gets ripped off from there partner they lose and
our last game we played is you have a partner and ones in front and ones at the back and when hamish blows the whistle the people in front have to run as fast as they can but the people at the back
have to try and get the people in front of them tag.

Kiwi sport

Image result for kiwi sport

This week for kiwi sport we played games but i will tell you the first one we played. So  you have two teams and one of the teams have the ball. The team who has the ball has to tag the team that doesn't have the ball, But there is a blur between this game because the person in that team who has the ball can not move once they have the ball and if they do they are out and the second game we played was that there is two teams that have a ball each and your team has to line up in a line your team has to pass the ball but you can only pass the ball backwards and you have to get the ball to the bib.
