This week for kiwi sport we went to YMCA lagoon pools to learn about water safety. In our lesson we learnt about currents, tides, rips and beach flags. James was telling us about how to save people in the events of a current, tide or rip. He said you have to bring something to float on for the other person and don't get to close to them because if you don't bring something that floats they will get to close to you and jump on you not realizing that you are drowning.
After we finished talking about currents, tides and rips, We all went to our swimming instructor, mine was Cameron. We learnt how to do sculling with our feet and hands, But we only used our feet to go forward not backwards. In sculling we had to move our hands back forward so we can float, We also had to keep our stomach up so we could float even more because then your hands will be doing all the works, When we were doing sculling we always use to look at our feet bet Cameron said we cant because then your stomach will go down and it would make it harder to float. At the end we all could do whatever style we wanted from one platform to another, I did freestyle.
